Shaher El-Meccawi is a Bedouin residing in Tel Sheva and has been a high school teacher in Tel Sheva since 1986. He received his Ph.D. in 2007 from the Department of Life Sciences at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and has been lecturer at Achva College since 2001. He was director of The Research and Development Authority of the Negev Bedouin from 2007 to 2010 and head of the Bedouin stream at Achva College from 2010 to 2014.
