Professor Algom received his Ph.D. in psychophysics under the mentorship of Harvey Babkoff, examining auditory temporal integration of a tones and noise bursts. Subsequently, working with Larry Marks at Yale, Algom pursued research on a wide range of topics in psychophysics, particularly, on binaural summation, localization, and, more generally, on psychophysical scaling. He composed several well received tutorials on scaling, applying, among other tools, Norman Anderson's Functional Measurement. More recently, he applies tools of stochastic modeling developed by James Townsend. Algom is a founder of the International Society of Psychophysics, and, over the course of many years, served in various roles on the executive committee. His most recent contribution concerns a well- overdue correction of the misnomer "the Weber-Fechner Law
