I studied Communication Disorders at the Lincoln Institute of Health Sciences, Melbourne Australia, attaining my BApplSci in 1985. I then studied Linguistics at Bar-Ilan University, attaining my MA in 1994. In 1998, I commenced studies towards a doctorate in Linguistics at Ben Gurion University of the Negev and was awarded my Ph.D. in 2003
My previous research has included clinical application of linguistics. Current projects include research into quantitative intelligibility measures as a clinical tool, the use of simulations in the training of communication clinicians, and the speech, language and communication skill development of the visually impaired
